About Geof McKernan

Geof McKernan is a Chief Executive Officer at Ignyte Insurance based in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, United States, North America. I’ve spent my entire career building — building companies, building talent and building bold ideas into thriving insurance platforms. In 1990, I co-founded NSM alongside Paul Norman as a commercial P&C brokerage firm. When we saw the growing demand for specialized insurance solutions, we made the bold decision to build our own programs. That single pivot transformed NSM into a force in the industry — ultimately growing into a $2B+ global leader with over 30 specialty programs spanning the U.S., UK and Europe. In April 2025, after leading the successful sale of NSM’s U.S. commercial division, I launched Ignyte Insurance — a bold reinvention and the next chapter of my career. As CEO, I’m focused on acquiring, scaling and accelerating high-performing specialty insurance brands around the world. From travel medical and international student health to collector car and other embedded insurance programs, we’re building a portfolio of market-leading brands with strong momentum and even stronger futures. At Ignyte, we think differently. We move fast, embrace complexity and empower our companies with deep operational support, transformative tech and capital to scale. Together, we’re managing $650M+ in premium and serving millions of customers across the U.S., UK, Europe, and Australia — and we’re just getting started. Throughout my 35+ year journey, one mantra has guided me: Grow, change or die. Now, it’s evolved into something even more powerful: Grow, change… or succeed. Beyond business, I’m deeply committed to giving back. I proudly serve on the Board of Directors for the Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation, supporting families of fallen first responders. I’m also an active supporter of Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center, Caron Foundation, St. Joe’s Prep, UBC Boathouse, Church of the Gesu and organizations expanding access to education for underserved communities — including Mercy Career & Technical School and BLOCS. I believe we all have a responsibility to make an impact, and I encourage our team members to give their time, energy and resources to causes that matter. Let’s connect to discuss partnership or acquisition opportunities. The best stories in specialty insurance are still being written.
