Deepika Phakke is a Founder at Ayurvedist based in San Francisco, California, United States, North America. It all started when I was an 8-year-old girl, carrying water home from a tanker. It taught me to hold water with Respect Growing up in India, I still vividly remember the times we didn't have an adequate water supply You do not just open the tap and expect water let alone drinkable water (which is true even today back home) Because of that experience when it comes to water, the pain is personal. While organizing zero-waste events at Google I learned that the most popular and most sold beverage in America is actually Bottled water which is mostly packaged in plastic! But did you know? Over 93% of bottled water contains plastic. That's when the lightbulb moment struck! I couldn't just sit back and watch anymore. It was time to change how we see and treat water, especially bottled water which even today is packaged mostly in plastic. Combining my love for finding sustainable plastic alternatives with the need to bring more consciousness to how we source water - I embarked on a mission. I took the plunge and founded Nama Water, bidding adieu to my job at Google in 2022. We’re on a mission to help you create a conscious planet with sustainable everyday products.
